In the fields of chemical fiber carpets and decorative fabrics, polypropylene BCF yarn (i.e., expanded filament) has become a popular choice for many manufacturing enterprises due to its excellent resilience and covering ability. This yarn is produced through a special expansion process, causing the fibers to form a curled and fluffy shape, with a texture similar to natural wool while retaining the low density characteristic of polypropylene.
The production process of polypropylene BCF yarn involves several stages: melt extrusion, cooling and shaping, stretching, expansion deformation, and winding. Among these, the expansion stage is crucial: high-temperature and high-pressure air flow causes the yarn bundle to undergo permanent curling, forming a three-dimensional network structure. By adjusting the air flow temperature and pressure, the expansion degree and curl stability of the yarn bundle can be controlled, thereby meeting the requirements of different types of carpet pile.
From the perspective of performance, polypropylene BCF yarn has the characteristics of being resistant to wear, moisture-proof and chemical corrosion. The carpets made from it are less prone to mold and are easier to clean daily. Moreover, this raw material can undergo direct liquid dyeing process. During the production stage, color mother powder can be directly added to reduce the post-dyeing process and lower water consumption.
In terms of product specifications, the linear density of polypropylene BCF yarn typically ranges from 800 dtex to 2500 dtex. Depending on the application, high-network or low-network types can be selected. For automotive floor mats, door mats, and outdoor carpets, coarse denier yarn is mostly used, while for household rugs, fine denier yarn is preferred to enhance softness. During actual production, appropriately matching the drawing ratio and expansion temperature can effectively reduce the occurrence of fuzz and broken ends.
During the packaging and storage stages, it is necessary to avoid direct sunlight exposure and keep the storage environment well-ventilated and dry. Before use, check whether the tube formation is good and ensure that the unwinding tension is stable. Through standardized process control, polypropylene BCF yarn can provide stable raw material support for carpet, automotive interior, and home textile products.
